Not Your Dads Pilsner

 Lost Nation Brewing: Vermont Pilsner

Pilsner is, by definition, a German-style Lager. Lagers tend to be on the mellower side, without a lot of defining characteristics. Pilsners and lagers definitely deserve their places on the shelf, especially when you just want something light & crisp on a hot afternoon. If you are like me and on a hazy kick, it's nice to have a palate cleanser between some of those big, juicy brews.

On first pour, there isn't anything special about the nose of the beer; it smells like beer. The beer is a pale straw color with nice carbonation. It's that first sip that really catches my attention. I had to sit for a moment to figure out what taste I was getting. Then, on the second sip it hits me- HONEY. Bursting out in front of that light yeasty tang is the most enjoyable hint of clover honey. From there it is a very enjoyable, crisp, delicious beer and at 4.8% you can enjoy this baby and maybe one of their friends.

Lost Nation Brewing is a craft brewery in Morristown, VT who say, "The brewery takes inspiration from lesser known European beer styles, along with local Vermont life...". They don't seem to have very big distribution range, so if your up near Vermont, definitely look for this Pilsner or grab anything from them. If their pilsner is this good, I want to try all their brews!
